Since Leslie’s beloved Father died so young (44), Leslie quit school at 15 to hit the road with other well-known musicians, in order to help his family, and to live out his dream. He appeared at the famous Apollo Theatre in New York with Roy Brown; Les’ signature is on the famous wall! Leslie then traveled the ‘Chitlin’ Circuit…he tells a funny story where he was playing in a juke joint down South, and all of the audience left that club to go to another one just a block down the road. It was Elmore James at another juke joint, so Les and his music buds went to see him too! To this day, Star Drums & Lady Keys perform his hit song, 'Sweet home Chicago' in Elmore James’ style! He has many stories to tell from his on the road adventures!
