I wanted to remind all our friends that we did a Christmas CD last year, "Songs of the Season"! Les wanted to do a Christmas CD for about ten years and I dragged my feet because I was not sure how we could make it really unique. I should know, Les is always right!! This is a really fun and heartful CD, and my family says this is the best one we have ever done. Starting with "Christmas in New Orleans", it is a very different and fun Christmas CD, graced by wonderful guitar and saxaphone from Walter Young and Lonnie Williams.

They are $15, and if you would like one you can send a check, written out to "Gael Kurath", sent to

Be sure to include your return address so I can pop it in the mail to you.

Goodbye to Music Mama

It is with immense sorrow that we note the passing of our dear friend and manager, Barbra Crain, alias Music Mama, on April 14th, 2011. Many will remember that on stage Barbra was our link with the audience, tossing tambourines to people and getting kids to come up and dance with us. At rehearsal she helped with lyrics, tempos, and ideas for how to end a song. As our manager she always took care of business with cheerful efficiency and with attention to every detail, right down to whether Lady Keys' single earing was on the side facing the audience.

We will miss her and treasure her memory always.

Here's a line from the song we wrote for her birthday, "Music Mama":
"a syncopated lady, with dancing feet,

she can't keep still and she'll never miss a beat!"

The music recording was completed in March for "Swamp Crab", Leslie's original (autobiographical!) song that is being produced as part of a children's DVD. The photos show that we had fun doing the recording!

Alligator Soul has closed

It is with great sorrow that we announce The Alligator Soul closed its doors for good in December of 2010.
We treasure the fans and friendships we have developed over the 11 years of being a house band. It was like a second home to us. Will keep our fans informed of where we go to next.
Thanks so much to everyone, for inspiring Star Drums & Lady Keys & music family to create their magic and mojo with you. For now, the legend ends.
